Well i do not fancy the idea of being labeled fanatic, but this new head of Penang certainly has his undeniable charisma! I was still in KL when YAB Lim Guan Eng was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Penang following the 308 election. Thus, I started by hearing about him (and the things he does in and for Penang) from a distance instead of seeing him. Upon returning to Penang, I caught hold of an opportunity to shoot (pictures of) him in the opening ceremony of Canon Penang Service Center.
Unfortunately, due to inexperience with SLR and the negligence of 'the more experienced one', all the pictures turn blur as the result of mis-setting to manual focusing. Hence what i got are a whole stacks of blur images of the CM.
I think this could be a nice picture, both aesthetically and sentimentally, if only the lion can be sharpened. I said sentimentally because YAB Lim has often been potrayed as 'Englishman' due to his education and his faith, and this is interesting for him to be framed up with one of the oldest Chinese tradition. :)
Mr CM, you can do it! :)
Another opportunity arised again during the Penang DragonBoat Festival. This time, i learnt my lesson :P
Finally a decent one.
and I got quite near.
Yet I wouldn't say these two are well taken. I believed that he has too many these kind of potraits from the press. I believed that good potraits are taken with subjects that are most dear to their hearts.
And I missed it! At one time he actually carried his young son down from the stage, but i wasn't fast enough as i SO happen to be taking a break to get a drink. Darn.
Anyway, a few interesting pictures i've gotten along the way.
At the Canon opening: the secret agenda of canon :P
The dragonboats before the match. Can you note the subtle joke? (You gotta refer to the Bible for this) :P
And I caught two 'naughty' birds doing 'things'. Hehe. It was taken on the way back from, supposingly, Penanti during the recent by-election nomination day. Well, guess the trip was still worth it though I didn't manage to go to Penanti as planned, at least i've gotten this pic!
